This position is based in Austin, TX, and will support the Genetic Sciences team.

In this role, you'll make meaningful contributions to products that help make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. In this role, you'll perform formulation and manufacturing activities in a GMP/ISO-regulated environment, working with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.

A Day in the Life:

Formulate buffers and other reagents for biotech applications at 100 µL to 2,000 L scale in a clean manufacturing environment

Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation wearing appropriate PPE including face mask, lab coat, and gloves.

Isolate and dilute nucleic acids in a manufacturing environment, including RNA and DNA, using pipetting and spectrophotometric techniques.

Perform quality control testing on buffers and nucleic acids, including pH, conductivity, agarose gels, and nucleic acid purification using magnetic beads and quantification by qPCR.

Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality control activities and record results in technical reports.

Revise and edit existing manufacturing protocols; participate in the development of manufacturing protocols for new products.

Manage manufacturing metrics aimed at process control and productivity savings.

Prioritize and schedule work to ensure on-time delivery.

Accurately and optimally manage inventory.

Work collaboratively with peers from your own and other groups.

Train co-workers in the proper use of instrumentation, manufacturing processes, and manufacturing software.

Adhere to ISO guidelines, USDA regulations, and Thermo Fisher Scientific quality policy.

Keys to Success:

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biochemistry or related field.

Experience:

0-2 of related post-undergraduate experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated ability in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex laboratory equipment

Detailed understanding of chemical interaction necessary for PCR systems, including interactions of nucleotides, enzymes, oligos, and buffers (pH, ionic concentration).

Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques including experimental design and statistical quality control.
