We are searching for the best talent for a Scientist II Microbiology to be located in Jacksonville, FL.

Supports the workflow associated with monitoring, and validation of lens manufacturing processes & water purification processes through microbiological testing. Conducts environmental monitoring and microbiological testing on pre-sterile lenses and DI water systems to ensure product quality and safety. Support routine sterilization validation activities to maintain product safety and compliance. Assist laboratory investigations related to microbiological deviations, non-conformances, and quality issues. Develop, review, and update microbiology testing procedures and protocols. Participate in equipment qualification and methods validation.

You will be responsible for:

• Collects and analyzes water system, in process, pre-sterile product and environmental data independently, determining if it fits specifications or not.
• Initiates and participates in laboratory investigations / non-conformance investigations.
• Reviews, trends, analyses, and reports sterilization or Microbiology data.
• Writes or assists in the revisions of internal departmental procedures.
• Support sterilizer equipment qualifications.
• Reviews the work of others and provides technical guidance as needed.
• Works on special projects (ex. Equipment Qualification, Test Method Validation, etc.).
• Participates in company safety objectives.
• Performs quality control testing for medias and organisms.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or related science discipline is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance Laboratory setting is required.
• Thorough understanding of Microbiology, GLP, GMP and aseptic technique is required.
• Technical Writing skills is required.
• Experience writing lab investigations, justifications, and protocols / technical reports.
• Experience with Bioburden and Environmental Monitoring programs and water systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with regulatory guidelines (ex. FDA, ISO, AAMI, etc.) and audit experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and documentation practices.
• Strong communications, interpersonal, coaching, technical writing and organizational skills.
• Project management related skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing practices and processes.
• Ability to technically review documents from other areas for departmental impact.
• Ability to contribute to a cross-functional team and provide quality customer service.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with the operation, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance of lab equipment.
• Ability to meet timelines and work with minimal supervision.
• Under general or minimum supervision, performs duties in terms of stated objectives.
• This position may require up to a 10% of domestic and/or international travel.
