Scientist III/IV, Immunobiology (Immune-Oncology Biomarkers) Full-time

Scientist III or Scientist IV

The Experimental Medicine (ExpMED) group is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Scientist III or Scientist IV to join the Immunobiology Laboratory at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The Immunobiology Laboratory supports immune-oncology programs through the discovery of pharmacodynamic and translational biomarkers and the characterization of therapeutic mode of action. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge immune-oncology research through deep scientific expertise, rigorous experimental execution, and cross-functional collaboration. Level (Scientist III or Scientist IV) will be commensurate with experience, scientific independence, and demonstrated leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Initiates and completes routine procedures in an independent and efficient manner; Troubleshoots effectively and solves scientific problems independently; Operates lab equipment and is independently responsible for maintenance
• Design, plan, execute, and interpret high-quality experiments to support project objectives and scientific hypotheses.
• Apply multi-color spectral flow cytometry to identify and characterize pharmacodynamic biomarkers in preclinical and translational studies.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of immune lineage markers and phenotypic characterization of immune cell subsets in murine and human systems.
• Perform proteomic and protein expression analyses using techniques such as ELISA, MSD, and JESS (Simple Western) in addition to cell culture-based experiments, including work with primary immune cells and established cell lines, to support in vitro assays.
• Develop, optimize, and validate novel assays to support biomarker discovery and mechanistic studies.
• Independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field
• Proposes new experiments/technologies based on science as well as overall understanding of drug discovery/development process; Demonstrates expertise in field and contributes to training technicians and junior level scientists
• Effectively communicates and defends own work in the context of team and department goals both orally and in writing; collaborate with laboratory leadership to identify, develop and implement innovative assays for biomarker discovery.
• Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics; Write protocols, procedures, and technical reports; Provide input for scientific reports
• Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies
• Maintain laboratory operations by ensuring appropriate stocking and ordering of consumables.
• Work independently with strong troubleshooting capabilities and attention to scientific rigor.

Requirements

Requirements for Scientist III

• Master´s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor´s Degree from an accredited institution in with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
• Strong hands-on experience in immunophenotyping and immune cell characterization in both murine and human systems.
• Practical experience with high-parameter spectral flow cytometry and associated data analysis.
• Extensive experience in cell culture, including primary immune cells.
• Hands-on experience with proteomic and molecular assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, JESS) in tissues and cells.
• Experience in biomarker discovery is highly desirable
• Supplemental technical courses in area of expertise
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment with independence
• Ability to draft technical reports
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills
• Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and interpretation thereof
• Proven problem solving ability
• Able to act for supervisor in his/her absence
• Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations

Requirements for Scientist IV

• Master's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or a related scientific discipline with six-plus (6+) years' experience in a related scientific discipline
• OR Bachelor's Degree with ten-plus (10+) years' experience in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Deep expertise in immunobiology, immune-oncology, and biomarker-driven research.
• Advanced experience with spectral flow cytometry, data integration, and assay development.
• Proven ability to design and implement complex, multi-parameter assays supporting translational and pharmacodynamic endpoints.
• Ability to plan and conduct laboratory experiments and evaluate and interpret data.
• Experience mentoring junior scientists and influencing scientific direction within a team or program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare technical reports, publications, and oral presentations.
• Track record of contributions to publications, patents, or external scientific presentations preferred.
• Ability to act as a leader in absence of supervisor; demonstrated record of scientific leadership and project ownership in an industry or translational research environment.
• Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations.
