• Plan, coordinate and perform purification of biotherapeutic proteins using standard chromatography methods (Affinity capture, SEC, CEX, AEX, MMC, HIC). Troubleshoot complex systems as necessary through process development.
• Perform standard analytical techniques to assess protein purity, stability and quality (HPLC-SEC, SDS-PAGE, CGE, DLS)
• Evaluate new technologies and process changes to improve the productivity, quality and consistency of standard platform processes.
• Perform stage appropriate purification assessments, including screening of protein behaviors and attributes in relevant process conditions, interpret and present findings to other Biotherapeutics Discovery colleagues.
• Develop novel analytical methodologies and evaluate new technologies to improve purification team capabilities.
• Contribute to broader research goals in areas related to protein biochemistry aimed at developing a better understanding of therapeutic protein structure, stability, dynamics, and function.
• Provide protein biochemistry and protein purification support for other scientists across Biotherapeutics Discovery; perform other tasks as assigned by manager in a timely manner.
• Improve data quality, consistency, and throughput using automation and analysis scripts. Identify opportunities for innovative automation strategies to streamline operations and boost workflow efficiency.
• Comply with all applicable regulations, perform all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOP's and policies.
Scientist III Requirements:

Scientist IV Requirements:
Master's degree plus six (6) years industry experience in related field or Bachelor's degree plus ten (10) years industry experience in related field or equivalent.
Requirements for both levels:
• Considerable experience with protein purification techniques such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography (AEX,CEX), Mixed mode chromatography (MMC), and/or Hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC)
• Experience conducting standard protein analytics to assess quality and stability (SDS-PAGE, CGE, U/HPLC, DLS)
• Knowledge and experience with protein expression preferred.
• Experience with data analysis software and/or modern computer programming languages (MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, SQL, or Java); experience in statistical and DOE software (JMP, R, Minitab, Statistica) is beneficial.
• Familiarity with lab automation is preferred.
• Strong grasp of protein biochemistry principles underpinning protein interactions, stability, and biotherapeutic quality attributes.
• Creative problem solving with a high level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Good record-keeping and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent writing, presenting, and communicating skills.
