UCL's Institute of Cardiovascular Science is a world-leading centre of research excellence in cardiovascular science. The LHA aims to identify biological and social factors that affect lifelong health, ageing and the development of chronic disease, and to use findings to design and test interventions that enhance healthy ageing.
Thanks to a generous donation from The Karlsson Játiva Charitable Foundation, we are pleased to announce the KJCF Quest Fellowships in Brain Health and Multimorbidity: Healthy heart, healthy brain. The KJCF Quest Fellowships in Brain Health and Multimorbidity support talented researchers who show strong potential to conduct high-impact research. By focussing on research that aims to improve the lives of people living with multiple long-term conditions, where one or more affect brain health, this programme seeks to contribute to solutions that deliver lasting benefits for individuals and society. This prestigious four-year non-clinical fellowship aims to increase our understanding of the bidirectional links between cardiovascular health and brain health over the period of early life up to midlife. The postholder will work in the Unit for Lifelong Health & Ageing (LHA), Population Science and Experimental Medicine, and have access to the UCL British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence (BHF CRE), an interdisciplinary collaborative, which has 'Heart and Brain' as a priority research theme. We are able to appoint a candidate to this role at a maximum starting Grade 8. 43 (61,213 per annum), together with research expenses for four years, including funding for a PhD studentship. Part time appointments at 0.8FTE will be considered, with the fellowship duration extended accordingly.
This fellowship is aimed at outstanding early/mid career researchers with an exceptional research track record for their career stage. The appointee should hold a PhD and have relevant experience in population health research, cardiovascular or brain sciences, or data science. Some experience with genetic epidemiology and longitudinal studies would be desirable. We place strong emphasis on supporting career development and encouraging independence.
As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, UCL offer some great benefits, some of which are:
