The Department of Computer Science at UCL seeks a Senior Research Fellow to join Professor Gabriel Brostow's research group focusing on Human-Centered AI and Computer Vision. The postholder will lead independent research on AI and machine learning approaches for accessibility and assistive technologies, designing and conducting empirical studies with people with disabilities to develop innovative solutions. The role includes securing external research funding through grant applications and publishing findings in leading HCI and AI venues. The role is part time at 0.8 FTE funded until 14th July 2028.
You will hold a PhD in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise in AI/ML applications for accessibility and assistive technologies evidenced by publications in leading HCI or accessibility venues. You will have a strong track record of conducting user-centered research using mixed-methods approaches and experience in participatory co-design with people with disabilities. Essential skills include the ability to manage research projects from conception through dissemination (including ethics approval), knowledge of mobile computing platforms and their accessibility features, strong interpersonal and communication abilities to engage diverse stakeholders, and proven capacity to work in cross-sector collaborations with academic, industry, and community partners.
