Senior Research Fellow (Microscopy And Spectroscopy)

The Senior Research Fellow (Microscopy and Spectroscopy) will work collaboratively with the researchers from the Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) on projects involving advanced optical microscopy and spectroscopy (super-resolution microscopy, time-resolved fluorescence), publish research results and apply for research funding to support research projects centered around advanced microscopy and spectroscopy techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the IDMxS researchers on projects involving advanced microscopy and spectroscopy techniques, including stimulated emission depletion microscopy (STED) super-resolution microscopy, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and fluorescence lifetime imaging.
• Analyse microscopy images and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy data and develop analysis pipelines.
• Monitor the performance of high-end optical microscopes, troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with external vendors on repairs and servicing.
• Develop advanced microscopy and spectroscopy capabilities at IDMxS to meet the demands of research projects. Source for technologies needed and implement novel microscopy and spectroscopy techniques at IDMxS.
• Publish research in scientific journals.
• Apply for competitive research funding and manage funded research projects.
• Mentor junior researchers in students in optical microscopy, spectroscopy and related data analysis.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering or related disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant research experience.
• Proficient in various modalities, including confocal and super-resolution microscopy; experience with STED is an advantage.
• Skilled in time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging, and microscopy image/data analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of optical microscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy principles; strong publication record; experience in competitive research funding applications is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with diverse partners.
