The Position

The department Pharma Technical Characterization Cell and Genetherapy (PTCG) is responsible for the technical development of in vivo gene therapies in the preclinical and clinical development phase.

Your team The function Gene Therapy Analytics focuses on the analytical characterization, quality control, as well as the development and implementation of novel analytical technologies from preclinical studies to market approval (BLA, Biologics License Application) and market introduction for gene therapy modalities.

Your tasks We are looking for a highly motivated scientist for the testing and characterization of gene therapy vectors and plasmids.

• Exploration, evaluation, development, and implementation of innovative, state-of-the-art technologies and workflows for the analysis and characterization of viral vectors (mainly rAAV) and plasmids for gene therapy applications.
• Driving and further developing techniques for the identification, characterization, and quantification of AAV vectors and plasmids in a highly motivated and agile, interdisciplinary team.
• Practical execution of experiments: method development, testing, and validation of assays.
• Strategic contribution to equipment qualification.
• Contribution to the development and definition of control and testing strategies.
• Independent interpretation, evaluation, and documentation of data and creation of analysis reports in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Analytical support of portfolio projects.

Our wish profile

• PhD degree in biology, molecular biology, or another relevant scientific discipline with more than 3 years of professional experience in the field of sequencing technologies, analytical ultracentrifugation, and/or liquid chromatography procedures.
• Proven track record and expertise (both theoretical and practical) in the above-mentioned areas as well as development and application of corresponding methods.
• Expert knowledge in the field of plasmids and gene therapy modalities (AAV, lentiviruses, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience with the principles of GMP (e.g., data integrity, equipment qualification, test validation).
• A high level of self-motivation, responsibility, results orientation, and team capability.
• Fluent English and/or German language skills (verbal and written).
