Senior Scientist – Synthetics Chromatography

As a Senior Scientist – Synthetics Chromatography, you will join the Analytical Method & Stability Center (AMSC) within the Analytical Development department, which is part of the Therapeutics Development & Supply organization within J&J Innovative Medicine. The AMSC mission is to strengthen product understanding and support drug development by combining strong analytical science, end-to-end stability expertise, and close project integration.

To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist who is passionate about groundbreaking analytical sciences and innovation to have impact on drug development of synthetic modalities to transform patients' lives. In this laboratory-based position, you will be an analytical expert who develops reliable chromatographic test methods for analyzing active pharmaceutical ingredients, drug products and their related impurities and degradation products. You will combine this with implementing digitally enabled innovative technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the execution of analytical experimental work such as method development, validation, product characterization and stability testing mainly based on Liquid Chromatography (LC) coupled with UV/ MS detection
• You initiate new scientific ideas and technical opportunities to build on a digitally enabled future ready analytical lab
• You independently manage multiple assigned projects (including Peptide, Conjugates, degraders, etc.): prioritize in line with the project- and team objectives/deliverables
• You will collaborate closely with colleagues in other Analytical Development teams, API and Drug product development

Qualifications

Education:

You hold an advanced scientific degree (PhD) in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology or related science with at least 3 years of relevant experience (post graduate education and post graduate research experience will count towards the years of experience) or a master's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific field, with at least 7 years of relevant experience.

Experience and Skills:

• In-depth scientific and technical expertise for developing and validation of methods in support of the R&D project portfolio with major focus on LC-UV/MS is required.
• Knowledge and/or experience with synthesis and drug formulation processes of small molecules, Peptides, degraders… is an asset
• Very agile in a constantly changing working environment
• You can oversee projects in a professional way with respect to deadlines and with sense of urgency
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude
• Stay ahead of the latest technologies to meet the needs of the different modalities in Synthetic development
