Use human genetics and multi omics to accelerate target maturation and reduce translational risk – bring statistical genetics expertise to decisions that shape our pipeline.

Your New Role

As Senior Scientist in Target Biology you will implement and run reproducible analyses of genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic and other omics datasets to generate actionable insights that inform target selection and progression. You will apply advanced statistical genetics methods, interpret results for scientific and non scientific stakeholders, and collaborate across Digital Biology, GR TA and M&TS to align analyses with strategic priorities.

Day to day your tasks will include:

• Implement and run reproducible analyses of genetics and multi omics datasets using in house tools and pipelines to produce high quality, decision ready outputs.
• Apply advanced statistical genetics and computational approaches to elucidate target biology, identify biomarkers and enable patient stratification.
• Analyse and summarise results with appropriate quality metrics and FAIR data practices, ensuring reproducibility and traceability of code and data.
• Communicate findings clearly in written reports and verbal briefings to scientists, project teams and decision makers; translate complex results into strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners (Digital Biology, GR TA, M&TS, academic collaborators) to co design analyses, share methods and accelerate target progression.
• Keep up to date with scientific and technological advances and translate relevant innovations into novel analytical approaches that strengthen the early research portfolio.

Your New Department

You will be part of Target Biology within Digital Biology. Our team blends genetics, computational biology and cross disciplinary expertise to accelerate target discovery and translation. We work closely with Discovery Biology, Target Discovery Engine, and translational teams to convert human data into robust biological insight that informs the NN pipeline.

Your Skills & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should:

• Hold a PhD in Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Statistical Genetics or a closely related discipline.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis (including at least 2 years in a pharmaceutical environment working with human genetics and omics data).
• Demonstrate domain expertise in genomics and omics of relevant disease areas (e.g., cardiometabolic) – evidenced by peer reviewed publications or clear analytical impact.
• Be proficient in R and/or Python within a high performance computing environment and have a track record of producing reproducible, version controlled code (e.g., Git).
• Show excellent communication and presentation skills in English and the ability to explain complex concepts to both expert and non expert audiences.
• Be collaborative, well organised, proactive and able to lead analyses end to end while adapting to evolving scientific priorities.
