The Mahjoub laboratory studies the role of the cell cytoskeleton in regulating cell physiology, tissue formation, and organ development, with specific focus on microtubule-based organelles called centrosomes and cilia. Our aim is to determine the consequences of centrosome-cilia defects in the development of human ciliopathy syndromes, with specific focus on renal and pulmonary ciliopathies. This specific project involves characterization of centrosome defects and how they cause cystic kidney disease. The experiments involve multiple systems and tools including primary cell cultures and organoids, transgenic mice, advanced microscopy techniques (Superresolution, ultrastructure expansion, electron, and live-cell imaging), as well as standard molecular and biochemical laboratory methods. Designs research protocols. Assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experiment design, data analysis and documentation of experiment results.

$48,000.00 – $86,900.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
