The Principal Scientist, Stem Cell Research provides scientific leadership and ownership of stem cell differentiation, characterization, and assay strategies supporting Vertex stem cell therapy programs. This is a hands-on, lab-based role with responsibility for defining experimental direction, setting scientific standards, and driving decision-making for complex stem cell-derived cellular platforms.
The Principal Scientist serves as a subject-matter expert and scientific authority, guiding strategy, assessing risk, and integrating biological, technical, and data-driven evidence to advance robust differentiation and characterization approaches toward preclinical and IND-enabling objectives. This role directly influences program strategy and milestones through independent scientific judgment and cross-functional collaboration.
Pay Range: $147,200 – $220,800
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

On-Site Designated
In this On-Site designated role, you will work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
