The main purpose of the role is to provide practical technical support to laboratory teaching and to facilitate the effective and efficient day to day running of the Teaching Laboratories and related spaces within UCL Earth Sciences.
The occupant of the position will work closely with undergraduate students, laboratory demonstrators and academic staff, providing support as required.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following roles. Note that we do not assume that applicants have experience with all these tasks. On-site training will be provided where needed:
Candidates will have a minimum of five GCSE's at Grade C or above (including Mathematics and English Language and be educated to A level standard or equivalent, or have acquired relevant laboratory experience.
Recognised formal training / apprenticeship in a relevant scientific discipline is desirable, as is a proven understanding and experience of working with limited supervision and taking responsibility for meeting service standards and agreeing targets and workloads.
A proven understanding and experience of implementing and adhering to safety protocols within a laboratory environment is also desirable.
