Position Summary:
Applications are invited for the postdoctoral fellow position at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Sinai Health System. The successful candidate will join the molecular and genomic epidemiology research group led by Dr. Rayjean Hung in the Prosserman Centre for Population Health Research within the Sinai Health System.
The research group led by Dr. Hung focuses on understanding etiology and progression of cancers, through integration of molecular profile and multi-omics data using innovative computational methods for predictive modeling. The program aims to advance the primary prevention and early detection of cancers through precision health approach. The work is conducted through national and international collaborative studies, which combines biological insights and machine learning analytics in a highly multidisciplinary research environment.
One postdoctoral fellowship is immediately available in the area of precision prevention of adiposity-related cancers. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of internationally recognized leaders in their fields, including cancer epidemiologists, experimental biologist, clinician scientists and metabolic health experts. The Fellow will lead projects integrating molecular omics profiling predictive modeling using data from multiple randomized controlled trials for adiposity interventions including GLP-1 medicines, and large-scale population cohorts in UK, Europe and Canada. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with rich datasets and cutting-edge analytical approaches while collaborating with leading researchers across multiple domains. The position will initially be for one year with the possibility of renewal. Fellowship stipend level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements:
This fellowship is suitable for candidates who have a Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Statistical and Data Science, Computer Science and relevant fields. Excellent foundational knowledge of epidemiologic methods, and well-developed ability of statistical programming and analytical skills using R or STATA are required. Evidence of prior research productivity related to cancer and programming experience in additional languages (e.g. Python, etc) is an asset.
Institute:
Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI) of Sinai Health System is one of the Canada’s leading biomedical research institutes offering a stimulating research environment. In LTRI, the Prosserman Centre for Population Health Research includes a group of multi-disciplinary scientists who are specialized in quantitative research of complex diseases. Partnering with Dalla Lana School of Public Health and Data Science Institute at the University of Toronto, Prosserman Centre for Population Health Research is the hub of an active research community of molecular and genomic epidemiology and statistical methodology with regular seminar series and journal club. The successful candidate will also have opportunity to join the CANSSI-STAGE (Strategic Training for Advanced Genetic Epidemiology) program at the University of Toronto.
