Postdoctoral Position – Host–Pathogen Interactions, B Cell Immunity & Molecular Virology
Location: University of California, San Diego (Department of Pathology)
Start date: Flexible, 2025
The Raju Lab at UC San Diego seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate how viruses engage the mammalian immune system. Our group studies host–pathogen interactions, B cell immunity, and viral entry mechanisms using emerging RNA viruses as model systems.
Projects integrate molecular virology, immunology, and structural biology to define viral determinants of host range, dissect B cell and antibody responses, and map virus–receptor or virus–antibody interfaces. Approaches include reverse genetics, reporter virus systems, high-dimensional flow cytometry, single-cell and repertoire sequencing, and cryo-EM collaborations.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Virology, Immunology, or related field.
Experience with molecular cloning, cell culture, or immunologic assays.
Strong record of productivity and enthusiasm for mechanistic science.
Environment:
UCSD offers exceptional resources for molecular virology and immunology, with access to BSL-2 facilities, Cytek spectral flow cytometry, structural biology, and proteomics cores. The lab emphasizes rigorous, creative, and collaborative science with individualized mentorship and career development.
To Apply:
Send a single PDF with (1) CV, (2) brief statement of research interests and goals, and (3) contact information for three references to saraju at ucsd dot edu. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Equal Opportunity:
UC San Diego is an AA/EOE. We value diversity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
