The start date is as early as possible / April 1st, 2026 (or by agreement).
You will conduct your research in a lively and academically outstanding research environment. The position is part of a collaborative research centre at the University of Konstanz, which is a highly ranked institution in Germany.
This position is an exciting opportunity for you if you wish to become an expert in data sciences and molecular cell biology by conducting cutting-edge research on the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular trigger responses in normal and diseased cellular states. The position is available within the Systems Biology & Biomedical Data Science Laboratory, which has a strong focus on developing and applying leading-edge data science approaches to study gene regulation in health and disease. Please find further information on the web site of the Gruber research group (please find further information at https://www.biologie.uni-konstanz.de/gruber).
You will be developing machine learning-based data science approaches for the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data from wet laboratory experiments and from the clinics. Using a holistic computational framework, you will study known and potentially so far unknown regulators that mediate the cellular response to specific triggers, such as TGFB1-mediated epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, a process that plays a key role in the formation of cancer metastases. Long term, this project aims to expand its analysis capabilities from human to additional model organisms to make the analysis approaches available to the broader scientific community. If you have some experience in programming and/or analyzing data and you wish to conduct a doctoral thesis with a focus on data sciences and molecular cell biology in a systems biology & biomedical data science laboratory, we are looking very much forward to your application!
