The newly established Castellucci Lab at the University of Rochester has multiple openings for PhD candidates. The lab’s research focuses on the neural mechanisms of multimodal communication, and dissertation projects that investigate this topic using behavioral experiments, intracranial recordings in neurosurgical patients, computational modelling, and comparative work in songbirds will be available.
Because our research is highly interdisciplinary, we welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds – including linguistics, neuroscience, motor control, and ethology. Ideal candidates will have a strong quantitative background and experience using MATLAB, Python, or comparable tools for data analysis.
Applications for the 2025-2026 admissions cycle should be submitted to the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences graduate program. Inquiries can also be directed to Dr. Gregg Castellucci (g.castellucci@rochester.edu).
