The Department of Basic and Environmental Sciences at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in urban forestry planning and climate risk (with a scholarship). The project aims to identify effective indicators for implementation in municipal urban forestry plans, as well as to provide information for the creation of guidelines and targets for the first revision of Brazil’s National Urban Forest Plan (2030).
The fellow will work on mapping areas of geological risk and urban forestry in several Brazilian cities. They will also participate in projects focused on environmental planning to foster public policies at different scales.
Requirements: PhD in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technologies, Ecology, or related fields; knowledge of geoprocessing; immediate availability to work professionally at EEL-USP. Desirable skills: Fluency in English, familiarity with topics related to civil defense, flood risks, and mass movements, as well as knowledge of urban forestry.
