I had the opportunity to work with the puparia of the Mexican Fruit Fly to obtain chitin and chitosan. I explored the biotechnological method to produce organic acids, amino acids, and chitin, then the production of chitosan through the conventional chemical method, which was then used to produce films and composites intended for food packaging and biomedical applications, respectively.
Contribution to Project (2)
I produced starch, pectin, and chitosan from agroindustrial wastes, employing green methodologies to reduce environmental impact. These materials were characterized and further used to produce bioplastics with enhanced characteristics, suitable for food packaging.
Contribution to Project (3)
The production of chitosan from an alternative source was successfully achieved employing a methodology developed for shrimp exoskeletons. The material obtained was further characterized regarding its physicochemical and biological properties.
I'm used to establishing a research plan and progressing according to defined objectives. I value maintaining regular meetings to review progress, address challenges, and refine methodologies. At the same time, I'm flexible and open to feedback, adapting my work to align with project needs and supervisory guidance.
