The University of Copenhagen is seeking an outstanding scientist for a professorship in Biology of Cell Division at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine as soon as possible. The primary selection criterion will be research excellence and emphasis will be placed on the candidate's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of basic molecular mechanisms underlying human cell division, cytoskeleton dynamics, chromosome stability.

The position should complement and strengthen the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine in live-cell studies, and it is important that the candidate can prove expertise in state-of-the-art imaging and analysis of living cells. Furthermore, the candidate must be an internationally recognized and visionary scientist with a strong track record of international and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will develop and lead an internationally recognized and extramurally funded research program and must therefore show a track record of securing external competitive funding. It is expected that the candidate will contribute to teaching in cell biology and supervision of both students and more senior researchers as well as engage in public outreach activities.

The average weekly working hours are 7.4 hours per week. Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2025.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 10 years.
