Anatomical Services Specialist

This specialist role involves leading an anatomical portfolio, aligning services and resources with departmental and external teaching needs. You will apply expertise in anatomical sciences and mortuary background to support students, academics, and external partners.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading a specialist anatomical portfolio
• Performing core laboratory duties ensuring respectful, safe handling of all cadaveric material
• Preparing and maintaining cadaveric and anatomical specimens for undergraduate & post-graduate classes, exam assessments, surgical skills workshops, and museum collections
• Setting up and supporting practical teaching sessions and surgical skills workshops for internal and external groups
• Supervising and mentoring staff within your portfolio, driving continuous improvement and service excellence

You may be a great fit if you:

• Hold a tertiary qualification in anatomy or a closely related biological science discipline
• Bring at least five years' experience in anatomical services, mortuary practice, or similar laboratory environments
• Demonstrate strong skills in cadaveric specimen preparation techniques for teaching and research
• Possess leadership experience coordinating people, workloads, and resources within a complex or multidisciplinary setting
• Maintain meticulous records and understand compliance requirements, including relevant human tissue and safety legislation
• Feel comfortable working with cadaveric material and participating in after-hours surgical skills workshops when required

You will join the Anatomical Services Team within the Department of Anatomy and Physiology, School of Biomedical Sciences. The team supports one of Australia's largest donor programs, enabling outstanding anatomy education and surgical training. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, academics, and clinicians in state-of-the-art laboratories across the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct.
