Assistant/Associate Professor BMC

The Department of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor position at Bayview Medical Center. The applicant should have training and experience in Trauma, Emergency General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical: Time spent treating patients will consist of evaluation and management of Trauma and Emergency General Surgery patients at our urban teaching level II trauma center. There are also opportunities for an elective general surgery practice.
• Academic: Resident, fellow and medical student supervision and instruction are major components of the position. Education is focused on general surgery residents, ICU fellows and Acute Care Surgery fellows.
• Research: Research endeavors will be encouraged and supported. Clinical research and outcome studies are abundant. Our current faculty have close collaborations with the Johns Hopkins Surgery Center for Outcomes Research (JSCOR), The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. Numerous faculty are supported with ongoing grants from: NIH, AHRQ, PCORI, and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Compensation: The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Department faculty compensation program or pay from participation in the Department incentive compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. This position is eligible for a quarterly productivity (wRVU) bonus and a year-end bonus. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The following additional vaccine requirements may apply, depending upon your campus. Please contact the hiring department for more information. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
