Lund University, Faculty of Engineering, Electrical & Information Technology
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world's top universities. The University has around 46,000 students and 8,500 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain, and improve our world and the human condition.
Department of Electrical and Information Technology (EIT), Faculty of Engineering, Lund University is recruiting an Assistant Professor.
The employment is within the Division of Integrated Electronics Systems (IES) in the Department of Electrical and Information Technology (EIT). IES has for a long time conducted high-quality research and teaching activities within integrated circuits (ICs) and systems. The research activities include—but are not restricted to—wireless communication, signal sensing, energy-efficient computing systems, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), which has resulted in many collaborations with industry and other research institutes. Most of our research projects are industry-oriented and applied, and our graduate students are a sought-after resource in the academic as well as industrial sectors.
The employment subject area is connected to the strategic research area within IT and mobile communication, ELLIIT (elliit.se). ELLIIT in Lund is a part of the profile area Pillars of AI and Digitalisation and the position is in line with the overall research strategy at LTH. The department hosts three competence Centers related to circuit design and wireless systems: ClassIC, Nextg2Com, ACT, providing a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
Computing systems and ICs are the backbone for the sustainable digitalisation of industry and society. Future wireless systems and AI/ML applications place stringent requirements in terms of performance, energy-efficiency, flexibility, and scalability. Energy- and performance-optimized digital circuits and systems are indispensable to meet the high demands from the system level. Therefore, EIT intends to hire an assistant professor specialized in digital IC and systems design for, but not limited to, the aforementioned applications.
Electrical Engineering foremost in Digital Integrated Circuits and Systems.
This employment has a special focus on domain-specific processor, accelerator, multi-chip/chiplet architectures, advanced very-large scale integration (VLSI) circuits and systems, and/or digital IC implementation. The subject also includes cross-layer optimization with system and circuit codesign to achieve overall balanced trade-offs between, for instance, system performance and energy efficiency.
Employment as an assistant professor is a tenure track position, which aims for the holder to develop their independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position includes the opportunity to undertake five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education.
Qualification requirements for employment as an assistant professor are fulfilled by someone who has been awarded a doctorate or has the corresponding research competence.
Primary consideration should be given to someone who has been awarded a doctorate or achieved the equivalent competence within seven years of the deadline for application for employment as an assistant professor. However, someone who has been awarded a doctorate or achieved the equivalent expertise at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds. Special grounds are sick leave, parental leave, or other similar circumstances.
For appointment to assistant professor, the following shall form the assessment criteria:
The extent to which the applicant, through their experience and skills, may complement and strengthen ongoing research, undergraduate education, departmental innovation, and how they can contribute to the future development of the department will also be taken into consideration.
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 6 years. The employment is regulated in accordance with Chapter 4 Section 12a§ HEA. The purpose of the appointment is for the teacher to be given the opportunity to develop research autonomy and acquire the scholarly and teaching qualifications required for eligibility for appointment as a senior lecturer.
Lund University is a public authority which means that employees get particular benefits, generous annual leave, and an advantageous occupational pension scheme.
