The Department of Medical Genetics, at the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure track. The successful applicant will be expected to serve as a consultant Clinical Geneticist in the Provincial Medical Genetics Program at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre and hold a concurrent appointment as an Investigator in the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute (BCCHRI). This position is located within a healthcare facility.
Reporting to the Head of the UBC Department of Medical Genetics, the successful candidate will build an innovative translational research program to improve the clinical care of individuals and families with genetic conditions, participate in the teaching activities of the Department, and provide mentorship and training to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate learners. The incumbent will also be expected to provide service to the University and the broader academic and professional community. They will work collaboratively in diverse groups to bring forward strategic initiatives for the Department and the Faculty. The successful candidate will contribute to fostering an environment that promotes inclusivity and embodies values of respect, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and equity. The successful candidate will hold an MD-PhD, or an MD with at least two additional years of research training. The incumbent will have specialist certification in Medical Genetics and Genomics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists and be eligible for permanent licensing from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. At the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track), the successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of ability in teaching and demonstrated ability in scholarly activity and must be willing to participate in the affairs of the Department and the University.
The expected UBC salary for this position is $150,000 per annum at the Assistant Professor level; clinical service will be compensated through the B.C. Medical Service Plan Alternate Payment Program.
