Assistant Project Scientist – Maureen Su Lab

UCLA's Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics (MIMG) is seeking to fill a full-time Assistant Project Scientist position in the Maureen Su lab. The Assistant Project Scientist candidate will perform independent research on Aire-mediated autoimmunity, autoimmune peripheral neuropathy, and CNS (central nervous system) autoimmunity. The Assistant Project Scientist position is a 12-month non-Senate position.

Specific responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

1. Conduct research on the pathogenesis of Aire-mediated autoimmunity.
2. Conduct research on the pathogenesis of autoimmune peripheral neuropathy and CNS autoimmunity.
3. Carry out in vivo experiments on the effects of immunomodulation on autoimmune pathogenesis.
4. Perform computational analyses on single cell RNA seq, ATAC seq, and bulk RNA seq datasets, including published datasets and those generated by our group.
5. Work with graduate students and other members of the lab to use mouse models to understand autoimmunity. Perform cellular phenotyping by flow cytometry, nerve conduction studies, behavioral assessments, and histological evaluation of affected mice.
6. Assist with preparation of grant proposals.
7. Preparation of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.

Minimum qualifications:

• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in physiology or immunology.
• 5 years of post-doctoral research experience.
• Mouse handling skills including therapy administration, necropsy, immunophenotyping.
