The Department of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks an Assistant Researcher to lead and develop an innovative research program focused on the biological characterization of psychiatric and neurological disorders through the integration of advanced neuroimaging, molecular biomarkers, clinical phenotyping, and large-scale longitudinal data.
The successful candidate will develop and apply cutting-edge computational approaches to investigate disease mechanisms, treatment response, and biological heterogeneity across brain disorders, with a particular emphasis on mood disorders and translational neuroscience. Research activities will include the analysis of multimodal neuroimaging data, integration of molecular and clinical datasets, development of scalable analytical pipelines, and participation in large multisite collaborative initiatives. The candidate will contribute to ongoing studies utilizing advanced MRI methodologies, including diffusion MRI and quantitative neuroimaging techniques, and will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams spanning neuroscience, psychiatry, genetics, biostatistics, and clinical medicine. The position offers opportunities to lead independent research projects, develop new collaborative initiatives, publish scholarly work, pursue extramural funding, and mentor trainees.
Requirements: Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, psychology, data science, biostatistics, or a related field. Expertise in neuroimaging analysis, computational neuroscience, statistical modeling, and large-scale biomedical data analysis is required. Experience working with longitudinal, multisite, or multimodal datasets is highly desirable.
