The RWE-HO Associate Director/ Scientist drives the development and execution of real-world evidence strategies and health outcomes research to demonstrate the value of GSK's medicines and vaccines in alignment with access, reimbursement, and lifecycle management goals. This role works in a matrix environment with local and global teams to ensure impactful evidence generation to inform payer, clinical decision-making, leading to successful patient access.
Key Responsibilities:
The role reports to the Director of RWE-HO and provides scientific leadership for one or more assigned asset(s), applying expertise in real-world evidence and other non-interventional study methodologies. The role serves as Lead of the Japan Data Generation Team (J-DGT) and is an active member of relevant local and global matrix data generation teams. The RWE-HO Associate Director/ Scientist is accountable for close partnership with Medical and cross-functional stakeholders and for driving the planning, design, delivery, translation, and dissemination of asset-level data generation plans (DGPs) in alignment with global evidence strategies.
• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of medical, real-world evidence, and health economics studies for assigned asset(s), managing timelines, deliverables, and budgets across the asset lifecycle.
• Develop and own the asset-level HTA and/or National Immunisation Program (NIP) evidence strategy, aligned with Government Affairs & Market Access (GAMA) and global access principles, in close collaboration with local and global Evidence Synthesis and Modelling teams for execution.
• Provide scientific leadership and governance oversight to ensure high-quality, compliant delivery of protocols, analysis plans, study reports, publications, and other evidence outputs in line with SOPs.
• Translate strategic evidence needs into fit-for-purpose study concepts aligned with asset strategy and lifecycle priorities, including innovative and cost-effective study approaches.
• Identify, evaluate, and leverage appropriate real-world data sources, partnerships, and public initiatives to address prioritized research questions.
• Act as a scientific partner to cross-functional stakeholders (Medical, Market Access, R&D, Commercial), providing evidence-based input to support asset decision-making.
• Demonstrate effective matrix leadership by influencing across functions and geographies, contributing to cross-asset alignment, and providing scientific guidance and mentoring to junior team members and matrix partners as appropriate.
• Monitor the external environment, including RWE/HEOR methodological, data, and policy developments, and engage external experts as appropriate in line with GSK governance.
Basic Qualifications:
MSc, or equivalent in health outcomes, patient reported outcomes, health economics, epidemiology, pharmacy, health or life sciences
Minimum 5 years' experience working in pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a multi-national company
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver individual projects, manage budgets and work within matrix setting
Experience with a variety of study designs, i.e., RWE/ HEOR studies including prospective, cross-sectional and retrospective cohort studies.
Ability to communicate technical and complex concepts and results effectively to various audiences to influence decision-making.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and develop credibility with colleagues throughout the enterprise
Business-level Japanese and English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced scientific degree, e.g. PhD, PharmD or equivalent in health outcomes or similar
• Market access or launch experience
