The Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, seeks to appoint an associate professor to commence as soon as possible.
The position focuses on the ways in which animals, particularly companion animals, are kept, trained, cared for, and bred. Special focus is on the role of the veterinary profession in dealing with ethical challenges and dilemmas when it comes to animal breeding, veterinary treatments, and end of life decisions regarding companion animals.
The open position is tied to teaching veterinary ethics and philosophy of science as part of the veterinary curriculum and is linked to the Centre for Companion Animal Welfare, an externally funded research centre with diverse research initiatives into the welfare of companion animals. Terms of employment: The position is a permanent position with an average weekly working hours of 37 hours per week. Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.

The application procedure involves selecting applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. The Dean then appoints an expert assessment committee in order to make an assessment of the selected applicants for the specific post.
