For the Associate Scientist II position, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate who can independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner, and can demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills. They should possess understanding of core discipline and support early phase development of New Chemical Entities (NCEs) drug substance and drug product in both preclinical and clinical programs. As part of the Synthetic Molecule Analytical R&D Predictive Stability team, this role will help build degradation pathway and stability understanding of small molecules, peptides, and other synthetic modalities for new drug substances and drug products. Collaborate within the global Analytical R&D organization and with R&D cross-functional partners such as Pre-Clinical Safety (PCS), Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Drug Product Development (DPD), and Quality Assurance (QA) and CMC-Regulatory.

Responsibilities:

• Independently plan and perform routine tasks competently within a timely fashion and generate precise, reliable and consistent results.
• Demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills and should possess understanding of core discipline.
• Documentation of experimental activities and results in a GMP compliant fashion using an electronic data acquisition and management systems.
• Analyze and critique results, noting significant deviations from the expected results.
• Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation.
• Learn and understand new experimental techniques with a curiosity to apply them for unique project / assignment requirements.
• Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.
• Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency in their field, preferentially in the analytical areas of quantitative and instrumental analysis.
• Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo.
• Impact projects predominantly through lab and/or pilot plant based activities.
• Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, and GxP compliance, where applicable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent education, with typically 3 or more years' experience or Master's Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
• Theoretical and practical knowledge (in chromatography and / or spectroscopy is highly preferred) to carry out job function.
• Hands-on experience with HPLC including testing, basic troubleshooting, and method optimization
• Basic knowledge of organic chemistry as related to understanding of possible degradation pathways
• Strong organizational and communication skills with high attention to detail
• Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
