An Associate Specialist position is currently available for immediate employment in the lab of Dr. Davide Ruggero at the University of California, San Francisco in the Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Building (at the Mission Bay campus). Research will involve understanding the molecular mechanisms by which translational control of distinct classes of mRNAs establish the proteome in normal and cancer cells. This includes how specific translation factors control gene expression at the post-transcriptional level and, that when deregulated, leads to distinct cancer types. The candidate will have the opportunity to publish their research in preeminent scientific journals such as Cell, Nature, Cancer Cell, and Molecular Cell. For research topics, please see our lab website.
Required Qualifications: • Must have a PhD degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Genetics, and/or Molecular and Cellular Biology. • More than 5 years postdoctoral research experience • Experience with mouse models. • Must have 5 years of experience in the area of RNA metabolism with a particular focus on understanding the role of deregulated translation factors in cancer.
Preferred Qualifications: • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Photoshop. • Experience in computational analysis, RNA biology and experience with handling mice is highly preferred. • Applicant must be an effective communicator, detail-oriented and organized, able to take the initiative to address research issues, and work independently, and collaborate well with other members of the lab. • A two-year commitment is highly preferred.
Please submit curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and provide a minimum of three names and email addresses of references from academic professionals supporting your research capability.
