Breach Bio is an early-stage biotech company developing a platform that reprograms immune signaling, with broad applicability across oncology and immunology. We are a lean, rigorous, and fast-moving team. As we expand our protein engineering capabilities and build IP, we are looking for a scientist who combines strong computational skills with hands-on biology to accelerate our platform and future collaboration programs.
The Role
You will work closely with our lead scientist and co-founder to expand our protein engineering capabilities using in silico approaches. This is a role for someone who is scientifically skilled, independent, and eager to make a meaningful impact at the frontier of a growing platform.
The immediate priority is computational design work that currently requires significant manual effort. Over time, you will take on increasing ownership of specific programs, including pharma collaboration projects as the partnership portfolio grows.
What You’ll Do
• Design and implement computational approaches to protein engineering including structure-based design, mutation prediction, and variant prioritization
• Integrate in silico outputs with wet lab workflows to accelerate the experimental cycle
• Contribute to IP portfolio expansion by identifying novel compositions and methods worthy of patent protection
• As partnership programs develop, take on project lead responsibilities for specific pharma or biotech collaborations — owning execution from molecular biology through in vivo readouts
• Work closely with the founding scientist to develop a rigorous understanding of the platform’s mechanism, limitations, and opportunities
• Stay current with relevant computational tools, databases, and literature; propose new approaches proactively
What We’re Looking For
• PhD in protein engineering, structural biology, computational biology, biophysics, or a closely related field; postdoctoral experience strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with computational protein design tools (e.g., Rosetta, AlphaFold, EvolutionaryScale/ESM, or equivalent)
• Wet lab experience spanning the molecular-to-protein axis: cloning, protein expression and purification, immunoassays. You understand what your in silico predictions mean in the context of real experiments
• Ability to independently drive a project — you don’t need to be told what to do next
• Strong communication skills; able to clearly document and present data to a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have
• Experience with antibody or protein therapeutic engineering
• Background in crystallography, cryo-EM, or other structural characterization methods
• Prior involvement in pharma-academic collaborations or CRO-based work
What We Offer
• First-hire advantage: direct collaboration with founding scientists and leadership, with meaningful influence over platform direction
• Opportunity to contribute substantially to IP generation and company-building from the earliest stage
• A path from computational contributor to program lead as the company grows
• Competitive compensation including equity participation and benefits
