Canada Impact+ Emerging Leader in Integrative Animal Physiology and One Health – Assistant Professor

The University of British Columbia's (UBC) Faculty of Land and Food Systems invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Integrative Animal Physiology and One Health, targeting the Impact+ priority area of food and water security. The proposed Emerging Leader will lead an innovative research program at the intersection between animal and environmental health.

An ideal candidate would focus on developing sustainable aquaculture systems for Canada, with a strong interest in how the environment (including climate change) affects the animal, how production systems impact the environment, and how novel technologies can help provide solutions. Candidates will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate courses in UBC's Applied Animal Biology Program with a special focus on animal physiology and will be expected to mentor graduate students; evidence of successful teaching and mentoring will be considered an asset.

Applicants must have completed a PhD, a UBC requirement, with a focus on applied animal physiology and preferably One Health. The candidate must take up a full-time position by July 1, 2027.

The role will benefit from existing university facilities and community resources and linkages, including opportunities for collaboration with colleagues working in aquaculture, applied physiology, and animal welfare. The Emerging Leader will be expected to establish a world-class independent program of research, with potential for impact through collaborations with, but not limited to, Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs working at UBC in the strategic priority areas of food and water security, as well as environment, and climate resilience and the Arctic.
