As an important part, the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital Dresden work closely together in partnership and are committed to excellence in cutting-edge medicine, medical research and teaching, and patient care for the entire region. The University Medicine Dresden sees itself as a modern employer and offers attractive working conditions to all employees in teaching, research and patient care, technology and administration and thus promotes and develops their potential. TUD embodies a university culture that is characterized by cosmopolitanism, mutual appreciation, thriving innovation and active participation. For TUD diversity is an essential feature and a quality criterion of an excellent university. Accordingly, we welcome all applicants who would like to commit themselves, their achievements and productivity to the success of the whole institution.
The Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TUD Dresden University of Technology and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf e. V. (HZDR) invite applications for the Chair (W2) of Radioimmunology combined with the position of a head of department at the HZDR in a joint appointment procedure to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The chair is based at the Department of Radiation Therapy and Radiooncology at the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in combination with the position of Head of the Department of Radioimmunology at the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research of Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf e. V. (HZDR).
As member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the HZDR employs about 1,500 people. The HZDR's focus is on interdisciplinary research in the areas of energy, health and matter. The Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research is engaged in multidisciplinary radiopharmaceutical cancer research. The radiochemistry, radiopharmacology, and physics research groups at the institute focus on developing and evaluating radiolabeled compounds for oncological PET/CT and SPECT/CT imaging, as well as exploring targeted approaches for endoradionuclide and (radio)immunotherapy in tumor diseases.
The scope of the chair includes the strategic development of the Department of Radioimmunology at the HZDR. This includes the preclinical and translational development and validation of antibodies, antibody derivatives, and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells for innovative immuno- and radioimmunotherapeutic strategies. It further includes compounds suitable for imaging-based characterization of pharmacokinetics and the targeting of molecular structures. The department is also responsible for developing preclinical test models, including 2D and 3D cell models and animal models. Additional research questions include modulating the tumor microenvironment to enhance the efficacy of the above-mentioned therapeutic approaches.
Close collaboration with clinical and basic research partners at the site plays a particularly important role, especially with the National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden (NCT/UCC) and OncoRay—the National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology.
The chair will be responsible for teaching in the field of radioimmunology/radioimmunotherapy and is integrated into the Medical Radiation Science program with a reduced teaching load (2 course hours per semester). This includes conducting courses, developing and refining research-oriented teaching concepts, supervising doctoral and master's theses, and providing structured support for early-career researchers.
