Microbiome Bioinformatician (Postdoc) – Metagenomics and Metaproteomics Full-time
Postdoctoral Position, Computational Biology/ Bioinformatics
with a focus on the Proteome of the Microbiome
Charité Berlin (ImmunoPreCept Cluster of Excellence)
We are looking for a motivated computational biologist / bioinformatician to explore how microbial communities function using metaproteomics and metagenomics data.
You will work with unique large-scale datasets (including >1,800 Candida albicans strains and patient cohorts) to investigate how strain-level proteomic variation in fungal communities relates to host immune responses and clinical outcomes such as colonization, infection, and inflammatory disease.
What you’ll do
- Analyze microbiome & mycobiome data, using metagenomics and a primary focus on proteomics
- Develop computational pipelines and predictive models
- Collaborate closely with experimental scientists and clinicians
What we’re looking for
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field
- Experience in metagenomics or computational proteomics, with a strong interest in exploring proteomes of complex microbial communities
- Strong programming skills (Python and/or R)
- Interest in microbiome research and systems biology
