Clinical Research Fellow

You will work on a research project related to the improved understanding and treatment of Parkinson's disease and related disorders and will develop and execute research in Parkinson's disease biology related to the analysis of genetics and pathology, under the supervision of Professor Huw Morris. The project will include training in data analysis related to biomarkers, genetics and pathology data. The project is linked to the Global Parkinson's Genetics Program and you will also work on supporting the broader aims of GP2 in liaising with clinicians and researchers on a global basis with the aim of integrating and generating clinical, genetic and biomarker data in the GP2 project and supporting translational movement disorders research at UCL. The post may be suitable for a clinician who is planning to apply for a personal research fellowship or undertake a higher degree (PhD). An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.

The post is available immediately and is funded by research grants awarded to Professor Huw Morris' research programme for 12 months in the first instance.

You will be a registered medical practitioner licensed to practise in the UK and have experience in clinical and/or basic science research and good clinical skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to act on your own initiative and strong problem-solving abilities. A high level of consideration and care for participants, an interest in neurogenetics, and an interest in developing disease modifying treatments for patients with movement disorders/neurodegenerative disease/Parkinson's disease is also required for this role.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

The role is offered in the range of £52,748 – £81,260 per annum including London Allowance, on the CL, RDPS, or StR scale, dependent on NHS contract and/or stage of clinical training.
