We are looking for a highly motivated and committed clinical research fellow. The post will principally support the quarantine phase of the international Mucosal Immunity in Human Coronavirus Challenge (MUSICC) project delivered at the Royal Free Hospital supported by the UCL Institute of Infection, Immunity and Transplantation. In addition to research activities, the post holder will join the Royal Free Hospital infection service which is a world-leading department providing outpatient and inpatient infectious diseases clinical care, and is the national referral centre for contact High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCID). The post is ideally suited to, but by no means limited to, a doctor early in infection training seeking research experience, or an IMT doctor considering application to infection training.
The post holder will act as the main study doctor supporting the safe and compliant delivery of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron EG.5.1 human challenge study (COVHIC003) as part of the Royal Free-UCL Controlled Human Infection Model research team. This will include volunteer screening, consent, inoculation of SARS-CoV-2 challenge agent, clinical monitoring during the quarantine periods, and contribution to study documentation. The successful applicant will also join the Fink laboratory group at the UCL Institute of Infection, Immunity and Transplantation (IIT) based in the state-of-the-art Pears Building at the Royal Free Campus. The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to UCL MBBS infection and immunology teaching. The post holder will also join the clinical infection service at the Royal Free Hospital receiving training and supervised clinical experience in infectious diseases.
