The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.
This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical researcher to join a group with an international reputation for research on the mechanisms underlying psychosis and the development of novel treatments as part of STEP, an international multi-centre programme funded by the Wellcome Trust.
What We Offer
About the Role
The post is funded for 3 years and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. The post is full time; however, consideration would be given to candidates wishing to work part-time on a pro rata basis.
You will contribute to the assessment of participants in the early stages of psychosis and healthy controls. You will contribute to the evaluation of CBD as a novel treatment in psychosis in a clinical trial. You will have the opportunity to join ongoing research projects as well as develop your own academic and clinical interests.
About You
You will have a medical degree (MBBS MD or equivalent) and have completed your Foundation training or equivalent. You will have a demonstrable strong interest in psychiatric research. You will have excellent communication skills including the ability to form rapport with difficult to engage individuals. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent would be desirable.
