Associate Research Scientist Full-time NEW

This is an opportunity to join the Department of Psychiatry at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Associate Research Scientist. The Columbia University Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest in the country in terms of faculty size as well as state, federal, and foundation research support. We are currently among the top-ranked in the nation for Psychiatry in the US News & World Report Best Hospital rankings, as well as in psychiatric research funding from the National Institutes of Health. We have extraordinary clinical, educational, and research resources. Our faculty includes over 400 psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and neurobehavioral scientists. Clinical facilities and laboratories of the Psychiatry Department are located in a large number of institutions and healthcare systems. These include NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the New York State Psychiatric Institute, the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the Washington Heights Community Mental Health Center. The Department of Psychiatry also houses the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior, the Mind/Brain Institute, a Howard Hughes Research Institute and the Stanley Center for Applied Neuroscience of Bipolar Disorders.

The position is available within the Translational Research on Affective Disorders and Suicide Laboratory at Columbia University (auerbachlab.com), directed by Dr. Randy P. Auerbach. The Associate Research Assistant will support NIH/NIMH- and foundation-funded projects that aim to identify neural (structural and functional MRI) and real-time (e.g., experience sampling, passive sensor) markers of depression and suicide in adolescents. Associate Research Scientists will have opportunities to pursue independent research, grants (e.g., R-awards), and interdisciplinary collaborations across Columbia University

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (add reponsibilities) (wHEN lISTING THE responsibility USE BULLET pOINTS)

• Provide training and supervision to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral level trainees regarding neural bases of depression and suicide.
• Manage study protocols and IRB-related tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Support federal grant requirements through data-related tasks such as progress reports, study ramp-up activities, and study close-out tasks.
• Develop and manage study-related and lab-related RedCap surveys.
• Provide support to study PI to develop and maintain Human Research Protection Program compliant documentation, training, and research.
• Conduct initial data quality assurance checks and collaborate with internal and external data teams to ensure accurate and complete data collection.
• Other related responsibilities that emerge in order to complete the lab’s work (e.g., data analysis, processing).
