Designing and developing a discrete-component-based control circuit for driving the miniaturized NMR shimsets previously developed within the group. These shim drivers should be digitally programmable and incorporate digital-to-analog converters (DACs) as well as highly stable current sources.
Integrating the developed shim-driver electronics with the miniaturized shimsets and evaluating their performance in high-resolution NMR spectroscopy experiments.
Translating the discrete-component-based shim-driver circuitry into an integrated microelectronic chip using CMOS technology. Potential fabrication technologies include XH035 (X-FAB) and UMC180. The development process will involve schematic design, circuit simulation and optimization, as well as physical layout implementation. The final chip designs will be fabricated through a commercial semiconductor service.
Characterizing the electrical performance of the fabricated CMOS chips and integrating them with the miniaturized shimsets for high-resolution NMR spectroscopy applications.
Publishing research findings in high-impact scientific journals and presenting results at international conferences.
A completed university degree (Master's level) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microsystems Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related discipline.
Strong expertise in electronics and CMOS circuit design.
Experience in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is advantageous.
