The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aarhus University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Electronics.
We seek a talented and ambitious researcher who can contribute to strengthening and further developing our research and education activities in electronics. The position is broadly defined within electronics, with particular interest in candidates working with sensors, instrumentation, and electronic measurement systems, as well as electronic technologies for healthcare and medical applications, industrial systems, energy conversion, and energy-efficient electronics. The position offers an opportunity to establish an independent research profile in a flourishing interdisciplinary environment with strong links across engineering disciplines and to industrial and healthcare partners.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent and internationally recognized research profile within electronics. The candidate will be encouraged and supported in establishing a research activity based on competitive external funding and in developing collaborations within and outside the department. Research is expected to combine strong fundamentals in electronics with experimental development, implementation, and validation of novel electronic technologies and systems. We particularly value research that bridges electronic components and circuits with complete measurement and instrumentation systems. The candidate will contribute to teaching within the department's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, including existing courses as well as the development of new teaching activities. Teaching and supervision of Bachelor's and Master's thesis students are integral parts of the position, with PhD supervision becoming relevant as the candidate's research activities develop.
We welcome candidates with a strong background in electronics and particularly encourage applicants with research activities related to sensors, instrumentation, and electronic measurement systems. Relevant areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to: sensor technologies, sensor electronics, and instrumentation; analog and mixed-signal circuit and system design; analog front ends, low-signal electronics, signal conditioning, and data acquisition; low-power and energy-efficient electronics; embedded electronics, control, and hardware-software integration; electronic interfaces and integrated measurement systems; electronic system architecture, implementation, testing, and validation.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can develop and apply novel electronic technologies within healthcare and medical technology. Relevant areas may include biomedical sensors, physiological monitoring, medical instrumentation, wearable technologies, and electronic systems for diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment.
We also particularly welcome candidates whose research addresses electronics for energy and industrial applications, including energy conversion, low-power and energy-efficient electronics, sensing, instrumentation and monitoring of electrical and energy systems, power electronic interfaces, embedded control, and intelligent electronic systems.
Strong candidates from other application areas within electronics are also encouraged to apply, including robotics and autonomous systems, communication, IoT-enabled instrumentation, and other emerging applications of electronics.
Applicants should demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge of electronics and the potential to establish an independent research profile. Experience with experimental research, electronic design and prototyping, system integration, and collaboration with industrial, healthcare, or clinical partners will be considered an advantage.
A relevant PhD is required. Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent research and development experience will be considered an advantage. Applicants should demonstrate a strong research record appropriate to their career stage, a clear vision for their future research, and the potential to attract external research funding and establish national and international collaborations.
The candidate should be able to contribute to teaching in fundamental electronics, including analog electronics and electronic circuit design. Depending on the candidate's expertise, teaching may also include sensors and instrumentation, low-power analog and digital electronics, mixed-signal systems, embedded electronics, data acquisition, or electronic system design.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to teach and supervise students in English. For non-Danish-speaking applicants, Danish language skills are expected to be developed over a five-year period to enable teaching and supervision in Danish.
The applicant should be motivated to collaborate across disciplines, contribute actively to the development of the department's research and educational activities, and contribute positively to the social and professional working environment.
