Research Scientist

The High Throughput Human Biology group is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to support discovery programs through the development and implementation of innovative human biology assays. Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, the successful candidate will draw on expertise in cellular and molecular biology, laboratory automation, and data analysis to develop in vitro assays spanning multiple levels of biological complexity and define their application within high-throughput screening strategies. The successful candidate will also evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies, establish scalable experimental workflows, and partner across disciplines to translate scientific needs into robust solutions. They will leverage AI-enabled tools to improve workflow efficiency, accelerate experimental iteration, and support data-driven project decisions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on laboratory skills, scientific and technical creativity, and the ability to independently advance projects from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and implement high-throughput human biology assays to address key questions or challenges in discovery biology across multiple programs
• Build integrated automation workflows for cellular and biochemical assays leveraging robotics, high-throughput liquid handling, and custom computational solutions
• Execute screening and follow-up studies, analyze complex datasets, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for project teams
• Troubleshoot assay and automation performance and drive continuous improvements in throughput, data quality, and operational reliability
• Identify unmet scientific needs relevant to our research areas and develop solutions from conceptualization through prototyping and implementation
• Evaluate emerging technologies and apply promising solutions to internal programs
• Represent the High Throughput Human Biology group as part of highly collaborative, interdisciplinary teams, communicate results clearly and maintain rigorous, reproducible records

Required Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with 0-3 years of relevant experience
• Scientifically curious, driven and independent, motivated by making impact to project progression
• Demonstrated creativity in biological assay development
• Foundational molecular biology and cell biology laboratory experience in multi-well plate formats, including complex human cellular assays, immunoassays, qPCR, high-content imaging, and other relevant functional and target engagement assays
• Proficiency in relevant coding languages, such as Python, R or MATLAB
• Proven track record of success working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with laboratory automation, automated liquid handling, or integrated instrumentation strongly preferred
• Experience developing or deploying AI-enabled scientific and computational workflows strongly preferred
• A record of building and applying useful tools, prototypes, methods, or process improvements
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively across involvement in multiple projects

Pay Range: $105,600 – $158,400

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
