Description
The Fruit Research and Development Division of the Instituto Agronômico (IAC) is accepting applications for a PhD position supported by FAPESP and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The research focuses on artificial intelligence for identifying downy mildew resistance in grapevine germplasm. The selected candidate will join a research group dedicated to the identification of candidate genes associated with agronomic traits, especially resistance to fungal diseases in grapevine. The project aims to develop biotechnological tools and improve disease resistance through the integration of artificial intelligence, molecular breeding, and genomic approaches. Requirements: MS in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or related fields; knowledge and experience in image-based phenotyping, artificial intelligence applied to grapevine breeding, Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), genomic selection, and statistical analysis; fluency in English; immediate availability.
Required Qualifications: experience with programming, machine learning, bioinformatics, and genomic data analysis.
Fellowship Benefits:
The fellowship offers a monthly stipend of BRL 12,570.00, as well as an annual research fund amounting to 10% of the total yearly stipend. This financial support is exempt from income tax in Brazil.
