Data Science Subject Matter Expert

This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

• Act as an essential partner within cross-functional global teams by providing data science expertise to design, develop, and optimize business-impacting data solutions. Use these alongside other scientific understanding to drive outcomes aligned to GSK values. This especially includes contribution to the resolution of deviations and improvement projects.
• Actively participate in all stages of model design and development (from data collection, data quality control, model building, model validation, testing, and model monitoring & lifecycle strategy) adhering to business leadership standards.
• Design, build, and maintain highly complex quantitative and analytical models to inform/drive strategic direction and/or improve business performance
• Lead the data analysis, and exploration, reporting and communication of results and conclusions in the form of technical documents and presentations in accordance with regulatory and internal guidance. Take full ownership and accountability of all data science content.
• Review the data science element of technical documents as a Subject Matter Expert.
• Influence GSK internal policies, guidelines and SOPs to ensure appropriate data evaluation.
• Actively participate with the wider data science network (MSAT, Quality, TRD and R&D, as well as with the GPS community) to develop, align and standardize data evaluation methodologies and conventions to help ensure that best practises are incorporated into local ways of working.
• Upskill the organisation through coaching, mentoring, and training of non-experts and junior statisticians and data scientists as required on the appropriate application of data science, statistics, and data evaluation tools for their business processes. Ensure full integration of data science and statistics across functions into everyday work as appropriate. Ensure data science and statistics concepts are routinely being applied within global MSAT. Focus on development of associates and building high performing team that has large positive impact on the organisation.
• Manage external and internal collaborations with statistical and data science thought leaders and groups in other functions and divisions. Represent GSK on internal and external boards. Influence external environment (e.g. regulators) by means of presenting at key conferences and publishing. Personal interaction and influencing of key regulators, FDA or other regulatory agencies in the context of submission of dossiers, variations etc.
• Monitor and assess new and emerging industry trends and evolving regulatory expectations for data science technologies (such as Machine/Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence). Standardize and refine methodologies and tools to maximize the competitive advantage.

We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

• Preferred Level of Education : Masters degree or PhD in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field
• 10-16 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical MSAT in applying data science and/or programming within industry and/or university, preferably within pharmaceutical industry in multidisciplinary multicultural teams.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written). Second language desirable (e.g. French, German, Italian).
• Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills with proven experience of communicating at different levels across an organisation including communicating complex information in logical and simplified terms.
• Strong programming skills with at least one scientific programming language e.g. Python, R, MATLAB.
• Expertise in applying data science within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines, e.g, stability guidelines (ICH, USP), relevant chapters from Eur.Ph.
• Long-term experience with Health Authorities such as FDA, EMA, etc.

This role is based in India and the position is hybrid, with a mix of on-site collaboration and remote work. Occasional travel to manufacturing sites in India and internationally may be required.
