Lead Genetic Counselor – HS Assistant Clinical Professor

The Department of OB/GYN is seeking a lead Genetic Counselor with experience in reproductive genetics and clinical research for a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor faculty appointment. The role combines clinical genetic counseling expertise with responsibilities supporting the research mission of the department as well as participating in the education of genetic counselors through UCLA Master's program and OB/GYN trainees.

Applicants must possess an M.S. degree in Genetic Counseling to apply. Candidates must also be ABGC board certified and eligible to obtain a California Genetic Counselor License. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about engaging in clinical care, academically productive scientific inquiry, educating genetic counseling students and serving the university community.

Academic appointment level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The selected candidate will join an established team with expertise in OB/GYN, maternal fetal medicine, reproductive genetics and reproductive endocrinology and infertility, clinical genetics, genomic medicine, and precision health. The role offers opportunities for clinical practice, academic engagement, research collaboration, and teaching within a dynamic academic environment.

In addition to the Department of OB/GYN, the Department of Human Genetics hosts an ABMGG-accredited Medical Genetics residency, a T32 training grant, a Masters in Genetic Counseling program, and multiple ABMGG-accredited Laboratory Genetics training programs. Opportunities are available for clinical research, clinical trials, and collaboration with basic science researchers. Faculty members have numerous opportunities for teaching across a variety of academic programs. Teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and genetic counseling trainees are expected.

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide genetic counseling services for patients within the Department of Ob/GYN
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams to support health initiatives
• Contribute to clinical decision-making discussions and care coordination within a team-based model

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Participate in the clinical and didactic education of medical students, residents, fellows, and genetic counseling graduate students.
• Develop and deliver lectures, case conferences, educational materials, and other instructional activities related to medical genetics and genetic counseling.
• Provide mentorship and supervision to genetic counseling graduate students in clinical and research settings.
• Support and engage in clinical research and translational genomics projects
• Participate in academic activities including teaching, mentoring, and curriculum support for genetic counseling and related training programs
• Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and scientists on interdisciplinary research and clinical innovation projects
• If desired, independently initiate, execute, and close IRB-approved genomic research studies, including full lifecycle study management from design through analysis and publication

The salary range for this position is $126,800-$133,300. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
