This is a paternity-leave cover position to cover the teaching responsibilities of a colleague in term 1 2026/27 academic year. This is a fixed term role open for applications from internal UCL staff only and available as a secondment to eligible UCL staff. The post is available from 1st October 2026 and is funded for 3.5 months in the first instance.
The post-holder will lead the CASA0007 Quantitative Methods Course and be responsible for delivering half of the lectures and practical sessions whilst also managing the assessment elements of the course. Duties and responsibilities will include: take on responsibility for leading the CASA0007 Quantitative Methods Module; teach half of the CASA0007 Quantitative modules and alongside Professor Adam Dennett who will teach the other half of the module; manage the module assessment and assessment processes including the allocation of marking between academic and PGTA staff, moderation and all summative and formative assessment activities; take charge of recruitment and management of PGTA staff; ensure moodle and other online materials are up to date and accessible including the module github repository; gather and manage module feedback from students.

The post-holder will have a undergraduate degree in Mathematics or equivalent quantitative discipline such as statistics or computer science and a PhD in relevant discipline such as mathematics of Computer Science. Other essential criteria include: experience of teaching quantitative methods at Masters level, ideally having written and delivered your own content; experience of assessing and moderating masters level work; in-depth knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts and methods and delivery to students, some of whom will have no previous experience of quantitative methods; extensive knowledge of one or more computer programming languages; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate, and to supervise junior staff such as Postgraduate Teaching Assistants; a commitment to institutional citizenship activities and a commitment to UCL's Code of Practice on Freedom of Speech (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/srs/compliance/code-practice-freedom-speech).
