Project and Research Environment
We are looking to for up to two PhD students for exciting projects in the field of cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) studies of membrane trafficking.
We are a small international team based at the Max-Planck-Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen, Germany. We aim to understand how molecular machines select cargo and drive the formation of transport carriers within the endosomal network. In this mission, we rely primarily on cryo-ET and subtomogram averaging to obtain detailed snapshots of reconstituted and endogenous molecular machines.
The positions should be filled as soon as possible; the exact start date is flexible, but an early start is preferred. The position is initially funded for three years with the possibility of renewal. Successful applicants will be enrolled in a structured PhD program at the Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences of the University of Göttingen (see GGNB website for details). Enrollment in the GGNB provides additional benefits, including a thesis advisory board, training courses and networking events. Remuneration and benefits are based on the guidelines of the TVöD (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst).
