The Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg is a thriving university in Austria with a strong
focus on research. As part of the Special Research Area (SFB) EpiFlaMe, the Tumour
Immunology Laboratory invites talented and highly gifted candidates to apply as
Doctoral Researcher (m/f/div) in Epigenetic Research
The position (30h/week) is limited to four years. Starting date is the earliest possible.
The Tumour Immunology Laboratory contributes to the understanding of how
signalling cues in the tumour immune micro-environment promote the escape of
tumour cells from anti-tumour immune responses and how they promote tumour
metastasis (e.g. Bolik et al., J Exp Med 2022, Rosenberg et al, J Hepatol 2022,
Schumacher et al, J Hepatol 2021).
The Tumour Immunology Laboratory is currently coordinating the EU-funded
consortium spaXio (www.spaxio.eu) on metastatic niches and is member of EpiFlaMe
consortium on epithelial epigenetic memory (www.plus.ac.at/epiflame), the University’s
Center of Tumor Biology and Immunology (www.plus.ac.at/ctbi) and the Cancer Cluster
Salzburg (https://www.cancercluster-salzburg.at/).
We are seeking for an excellent and enthusiastic PhD student with a strong interest in
inflammation, epigenetics and tumour biology. The project P07 “Inflammatory
memory in liver inflammation and cancer” within the EpiFlaMe SFB consortium
investigates the impact of the hepatic organ environment on epigenetic changes after
inflammation and its consequence on tumour formation. To this end, the project
employs state-of-the-art technologies such as (sc) RNA and ATAC sequencing,
organoid cultures, CRISPR screens and animal experimentation. Within EpiFlaMe, the
project interacts with groups at the Johannes-Kepler University Linz, the Medical
University Vienna, the Technical University Munich and the University Medical Centre
Hamburg-Eppendorf. Further informations can be found on https://www.plus.ac.at/epiflame
