PhD Position (f/m/d) on the development of an active-feedback resonator for RASER NMR Full-time NEW

Hyperpolarized Magnetic Resonance Group Position

The Hyperpolarized Magnetic Resonance Group at the Institute for Microstructure Technology (IMT) researches and optimizes hyperpolarization methods using para-hydrogen as well as RASER technologies to provide high-performance NMR and MRI analytical methods for chemistry, medicine, and materials science. Your areas of responsibility:

• Characterization and sensitivity enhancement of an active feedback resonator for RASER NMR
• Simulation of the coupled system to optimize and predict new operating modes
• Conducting proof-of-concept measurements with the newly developed resonator system as a quantum sensor (nuclear spins)
• Publication of the research results
• Supporting students working on the project

Your Profile:

• A completed university degree (M.Sc.) in physics, chemistry, or a related field
• Knowledge of NMR spectroscopy, EPR, or spin physics
• Skills in signal and noise analysis, Fourier transforms, and statistical analysis
• Experience with resonators, high-frequency circuits, and feedback systems
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python (NumPy/SciPy), or similar environments
• Language skills in German and/or English
• The following are advantageous: experience with simulation software such as COMSOL, the use of HPC resources for extensive simulation runs, and experience with electrical measuring instruments such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes
