Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research? At the Department of Oncology-Pathology, we perform internationally competitive research at the interface of translational medicine, advanced disease models and analysis of patient-derived material. We are now recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a vascular disease project that combines modern experimental systems and omics approaches to understand disease mechanisms and identify new therapeutic entry points.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work within our funded project on AAA and CAD. The project focuses on molecular mechanisms that influence vascular wall integrity, inflammation and disease progression. The work includes planning and performing experiments in cell and tissue models, studies of human samples and relevant experimental systems, and analyses using advanced microscopy, molecular biology, single-cell approaches and proteomics/transcriptomics in close collaboration with other researchers in the group and national research infrastructures.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. We are looking for a candidate with a strong scientific background in cell and molecular biology, experimental pathology, cancer biology, translational medicine, or a related field. Experience in advanced cell biology, 3D models, microscopy, omics methods, analysis of human samples, or disease-relevant experimental models is meritorious. Previous experience in vascular biology is considered an advantage but is not required. Great emphasis will be placed on scientific independence, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to grow into a new disease area within an international and collaborative research environment.
A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden. At KI, you get to meet researchers working with a wide range of specialisms and methods, giving you ample opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with the various scientific fields within medicine and health. It is the crossover collaborations, which have pushed KI to where it is today, at the forefront of global research. Several of the people you meet in healthcare are educated at KI. A close relationship with the health care providers is important for creating groundbreaking top quality education and research. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several benefits through our collective agreement.
