The laboratory of Dr. Elaine F. Reed (Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine), in collaboration with Dr. Joanna Schaenman (Division of Infectious Diseases) at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA, is seeking applications for a full-time postdoctoral position. The Reed lab is part of the Immunology, Inflammation, Infection and Transplantation Research Theme (I3T), located in the state-of-the-art South Tower CHS research building known for its multi-disciplinary and collaborative environment. The candidate will conduct research in transplant immunology in work understanding the impact of immunosuppressive medications in kidney transplant recipients using a systems immunology approach combining transcriptomics, epigenetics, T cell receptor diversity analysis, and functional T cell assays. The focus of the project will be to dissect the impact of post-transplant immunosuppression at the molecular and cellular level to understand vulnerability to infection in kidney transplant recipients. A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. is required.
The candidate will benefit from a highly collaborative and diverse team of investigators at UCLA including experts in immunogenetics, immunology, transplantation, infectious disease, biostatistics and computational immunology at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Basic qualifications: A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. is required.
Additional qualifications: A strong background in immunology, molecular, and/or cellular biology is preferred. The candidate should be skillful in molecular and cellular laboratory techniques including flow cytometry, immune functional assays eg intracellular cytokine secretion analysis, ELISA, purification and culture of primary human cells, and single cell RNAseq.
Preferred qualifications: Bioinformatics and computation skills are highly desirable. The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills, be highly motivated, independent, intellectually creative, and function well as part of a team. Candidates will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects and expand novel independent research projects in a collaborative research environment.
